A fast-growing international engineering and construction company is seeking a commercially driven Country Business Director to lead the continued growth and development of its U.S. business. This is a senior, high-impact position for a leader who can strengthen existing relationships, open new accounts, identify major project opportunities, and convert a strong market presence into sustainable and profitable growth.
The role is commercial at its core. The Business Director will be responsible for expanding the client portfolio and building long-term relationships with EPC contractors, developers, IPPs, and other strategic industry stakeholders. The individual will also contribute to financial planning, commercial risk assessment, contract negotiations, and selected operational decisions associated with business growth and project delivery.
Reporting directly to the company partners, this person will act as a senior representative of the organization in the United States and will have meaningful influence over the strategy, positioning, and future direction of the U.S. platform.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the commercial growth strategy for the United States, with a clear focus on revenue generation, profitability, and long-term market positioning.
• Build, maintain, and expand senior-level relationships with EPC contractors, solar and infrastructure developers, IPPs, general contractors, project owners, and strategic partners.
• Originate and pursue new opportunities across utility-scale solar construction, data centers, electrical infrastructure, mechanical and electrical installations, commissioning, and maintenance services.
• Own and manage the commercial pipeline from market mapping and initial outreach through qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and contract award.
• Lead client meetings, presentations, commercial proposals, tender responses, and negotiations, ensuring a compelling and differentiated value proposition.
• Identify new clients, projects, geographic markets, service lines, and partnership opportunities capable of accelerating the company’s U.S. growth.
• Collaborate closely with estimating, engineering, project management, finance, legal, and operations teams to develop competitive and executable proposals.
• Evaluate opportunity economics, pricing, margins, contractual obligations, delivery risks, and resource requirements before commitments are made.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, business planning, cash-flow discussions, and performance monitoring for the U.S. operation.
• Maintain visibility over awarded projects and support the transition from commercial award to successful project mobilization and execution.
• Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, client events, and industry meetings throughout the United States.
• Provide regular, transparent reporting to the company partners on pipeline development, forecasts, client activity, commercial risks, and business performance.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in renewable energy, power, construction, electrical infrastructure, data centers, or a closely related project-based sector.
• Strong preference for candidates with direct experience in construction services and a practical understanding of how complex projects are estimated, contracted, mobilized, and delivered.
• Demonstrated business development or commercial leadership experience working with EPC contractors, developers, IPPs, general contractors, or major project owners in the United States.
• Proven track record of originating opportunities, developing strategic accounts, negotiating commercial agreements, and closing significant contracts.
• Established U.S. industry network and the credibility to engage with executive, commercial, procurement, engineering, and project-delivery stakeholders.
• Strong commercial judgment, including the ability to evaluate pricing, margins, contractual exposure, execution risk, and overall project economics.
• Entrepreneurial and hands-on leadership style, with the autonomy and resilience required to scale a growing business.
• Ability to balance strategic business development with practical involvement in finance, operations, and project execution when required.
• Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
• Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
• Authorization to work in the United States and availability to travel regularly for client meetings, project visits, and industry events.
Working Model
The position can be performed 100% remotely from anywhere in the United States. The company also has an office in Miami, Florida, available for meetings and business activities. The successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly based on client, project, and commercial requirements.
